Cisse Sandra: "I take this loss very personally"
After a good performance at Standard, Sandra was again given a starting place by Hayen. "I'm very disappointed. I think we put in a good game here until it became 1-1. That's where I bitterly regret that pass back to Sabbe. I take that very much to heart because that's where the game tilts. I take this very personally right now. It's very unfortunate. Here we can take three points, but at 15 minutes we give it away completely. Overall, I can be satisfied. I did my job in ball loss and did my bit offensively. Now that one pass weighs on me, but afterwards I will hopefully be able to look back on a good performance by myself."
Christos Tzolis: "Not happy with the result"
Christos Tzolis had put Club in front with a beautiful shot from outside the box, but in the end he was powerless as Club suffered defeat in Italy. "It was a tough, tough match, as often in the Champions League. We tried to play our game and we succeeded quite well in the first half. We didn't give much away either, because they had only few chances. That penalty really turned the game in their favor. They were then able to score from a standard situation and that's unfortunate. Obviously we are not happy with the result, because more was in it. We still lose at the end. Tomorrow we will analyze where we can do even better. We now have some matches against top European clubs coming up, but first we have to focus on Sunday, on our game against Union."
Nicky Hayen: "Details make the difference"
The visitors were ahead at halftime, but eventually lost out against Atalanta after a goal in the closing stages. Coach Nicky Hayen was disappointed afterwards. "Details made the difference tonight. We had that individual mistake by playing that ball back badly. This creates a phase in the sixteen, resulting in that penalty. You are in full control of the match at that point and we also got the feeling they couldn't put that pressure anymore like they did in the first half. A very important detail then changes the course of the game and because of this you hand them some oxygen. The stadium feels more is in it. Despite that, 1 or 2 minutes later you get that chance yourself after they hand it to you but you don't capitalize on it. That's the big difference: they get a gift and unwrap it and we don't. So you get opportunities, but you also know it's going to be difficult until the last minute. Then it's very bitter that you still get that corner kick in and are left with zero points. You are 0-1 ahead, have possession of the ball and do all the right things. Details in the Champions League make the difference and that goes to show tonight. In the Champions League you have to be able to play error-free and I think we did that very often last year. Then it was us who punished an opponent's mistake and today the opposite happened."
