The penultimate home match in the regular season is a top clash for the Blues.
At home they host RSC Anderlecht. All the figures and facts about Club – Anderlecht can be found in the Club Facts.
THE MATCH
Club will host RSC Anderlecht this coming Sunday at the Jan Breydel Stadium. These two teams share a very long history, as this will be the 192nd duel between both teams in the First Division. The previous 95 home matches against the purple-and-white side resulted in 45 wins, 31 draws, and 19 defeats. Looking at the last 12 home matches against the record champions, the Blues only suffered one defeat (7 wins, 4 draws), a 1–2 loss in February 2024.
Earlier this season, Club Brugge lost 1–0 away at RSCA. The final score was already on the scoreboard after six minutes following an own goal. This ended a streak of six consecutive head-to-head matches won by Club.
Last weekend, Club had to travel to Charleroi. Thanks to a penalty by Tzolis and a late winning goal (100th minute) by Joel Ordóñez, Club secured the victory. The previous time Club won with an even later goal was also thanks to Joel Ordóñez. The Ecuadorian defender scored in the 101st minute in December 2024 away at KV Mechelen. With this victory, the Blues made a very good move in the ranking: they overtook STVV to return to second place and moved within one point of leaders Union SG.
Club’s top scorer remains Nicoló Tresoldi with 9 goals. If the German striker scores again against RSCA, it will be his fourth consecutive home match in the league with a goal. Thanks to his goal against Charleroi, Tzolis is now only one goal behind Tresoldi.
Christos Tzolis is still the league’s top assist provider (10). On Sunday, the two players directly involved in the most goals in the JPL will be on the pitch: i) Tzolis has been involved in 18 goals, and ii) Thorgan Hazard has been involved in 17 goals.
If Club beat Sporting on Sunday, they will record their fifth consecutive league victory, equaling their best run of the season (five straight wins between September and November 2025).
With coach Ivan Leko, Club has taken 24 points out of 30 (8 wins, 2 losses).
THE OPPONENT
With three matches remaining, RSCA is almost certain of qualifying for the Champions Play-offs. Anderlecht will be guaranteed a place in Play-off 1 if they win at Jan Breydel, or if KAA Gent lose at home against KV Mechelen while Standard fail to win at Zulte Waregem.
RSCA could then participate in Play-off 1 for the 15th time. They only missed the title play-offs in 2022, while Club Brugge is the only team that has participated in all 16 editions.
On 1 February, the club dismissed coach Besnik Hasi. Edward Still temporarily replaced him, but since 9 February, Jérémy Taravel has taken over.
The 38-year-old Frenchman played as a defender for several Belgian clubs including Zulte Waregem, Sporting Lokeren, KAA Gent, Cercle Brugge, and Excel Mouscron. After his playing career, he worked as an assistant coach at Excelsior Virton and as a youth coach at Union SG. Last season Taravel was still assistant to Ivan Leko at Standard Liège, but he moved to Anderlecht last summer. Taravel and Leko know each other well: between 2010 and 2014 they played together for three years at Sporting Lokeren.
Under Taravel, RSCA remain unbeaten. In the Croky Cup semi-final, they overturned a first-leg deficit with a 0–4 victory at Antwerp. In the Jupiler Pro League, the purple-and-white have taken 7 points out of 9: 0–0 draw against RAAL La Louvière, 2–4 win at Zulte Waregem, and 5–1 victory against OH Leuven last weekend.
Thanks to scoring twice against OH Leuven, Thorgan Hazard has now scored 11 league goals, making the 32-year-old midfielder the competition’s top scorer. The former Belgian international is also Anderlecht’s assist leader with 6 assists.
RSCA has taken 15 points out of 39 away matches this season. They won at Cercle Brugge, FCV Dender EH, RAAL La Louvière, and Zulte Waregem. They drew against OH Leuven, STVV, and Antwerp. They lost at Union SG, Sporting Charleroi, KVC Westerlo, KAA Gent, Standard, and KRC Genk.
After this matchday, they still have one away game at KV Mechelen and one home match against Cercle Brugge.
RSCA has kept 10 clean sheets this season; only Union SG has more with 13.
