Club NXT played a mature game on the RWDM field and had most of the ball possession, but ran into a counter from the home team after twenty minutes. After the break, Club NXT forced several more chances through Da Silva and Audoor, but an equalizer was not in the cards.
First half
For our youngsters, the last game of the first round meant the difficult move to ambitious RWDM, which wants to regain its place in the first division. After barely five minutes, Club NXT showed it would sell its sheet dearly. Lenn De Smet spotted a running move by Campbell but Sousa put a stop to it. Afterwards, Lenn De Smet just couldn't print but dragged out a corner kick. The ball toward the second post from Granados disappeared into the hands of Lathouwers.
De Roeve conjured up a typical long run on the right flank and put the ball perfectly in front of goal. Perez saw his header go wide. A second corner kick for Club NXT a few minutes later was kicked wide by Et-Taïbi and Perez.
Through a quick counter by RWDM, Halifa delivered a cross toward the second post. Ziani was lost sight of and slid the leather in, 1-0, an undeserved deficit for Blauw-Zwart. Shortly after, a difficult moment followed for Club NXT. De Roeve worked the ball over the sideline, but RWDM kept pressing. Sambu went down in the sixteen, but received a yellow card under the nose from referee Allaerts for a schwalbe.
Afterwards, it was again Blauw-Zwart that went in search of a goal. Lynnt Audoor played Granados who in turn got the leather to Campbell. His shot ended up in the hands of Lathouwers. Club NXT had most of the ball possession and continued to patiently look for the equalizer, but failed before halftime. First, Lathouwers boxed away a clever cross. Just before the halftime signal, Campbell launched Perez who beat the Brussels goalie, but the ball ended up against the post.
