Brandon Mechele: "The level difference was very high"
"It was at times too easy how Bayern could and was allowed to score in the first half," said Brandon Mechele. "You knew beforehand that nothing was allowed to go wrong and then when it becomes 1-0 after just four minutes, you are immediately behind. You know they can create chances out of nothing and they did today. The difference in level was very big and very clear, so we can only learn from it today. At one point they came from everywhere. For example, on Kane's goal. He suddenly comes alone in the second zone and only has the ball to tap in. We also have to admit that we didn't see the best Club tonight. It was really hard to play because the spaces were way too big and especially in the first half. It's just unfortunate that we lost by four to zero."
Hans Vanaken: "Bayern was just too strong"
"We knew it was going to be a tough match," were the first words of captain Hans Vanaken afterwards. "We all know that Bayern has a lot of qualities and then when you also fall behind 1-0 after a few minutes, you immediately know it's going to be a long night. In the first half, I think we had two chances through Tzolis, but other than that there wasn't much danger from our side. Bayern was just too strong, we have to admit that. We now have to work with the images that are there and see what we can do better against Barcelona or Arsenal. Those are also two top teams in the world. It will have to be a lot better if we want to get a point against such teams, both defensively and offensively."
Nicky Hayen: "Very humble attitude today"
Blue-Black clearly had to acknowledge its superiority against Bayern Munich, losing 4-0. Coach Nicky Hayen was obviously disappointed afterwards, but also realistic.
"There could have been even more goals against today," the coach began his analysis. "I think Jackers kept us straight at certain moments. I think you just have to be very humble today. You're playing against maybe the best club in Europe - and maybe the world - right now. You have a game plan in theory and in practice. The game plan was something where you play with guts, but I think you saw from the beginning that we crawled back too much and played with too much fear. I'm not going to say too much respect, but too much fear. We sank in too deep and let Olise, for example, come into that sixteen too often. This while we said to keep him out of the sixteen, because in that case he becomes even more dangerous. I also said in the locker room that you are playing against a toplevel team. Everything is going faster, better and smarter. That's why we are going to come to Basecamp every day to gain percentage. We have the facilities, so everyone just has to mirror what they saw today and try to get the maximum out of it."
The Bruges coach could not be completely satisfied with his team's performance. "Not really indeed, because we had to be 100 percent today to pick something up. There were just too many moments when you weren't 100% and by that I mean, for example, the runs that weren't followed. I think they scored two goals from that. They do everything at 100% and when you put in a chase at 80%, you just know you're going to come up short," Nicky Hayen concluded.
