Club NXT gets the better of KV Kortrijk

Another win for Club NXT as it now also sailed past KV Kortrijk at home, allowing Club's youngsters to get away from last place. The first half was uneventful except for a KV Kortrijk spot kick going missing. A more spectacular second half saw more chances for both sides.

Club NXT started out well, with a lot of ball possession but in terms of goal danger there was little to note. As the first half went by, KV Kortrijk came more into the game without really testing goalkeeper Vanden Driessche. Around the half hour mark, the visitors had two chances, but the Bruges goalkeeper still was unphased. On the break, Club NXT had some smaller opportunities, but the crosses did not reach a teammate.

Just before halftime, the visitors were awarded a penalty after Gomez van Hoogen handled the ball inside the box. Ambrose fired it towards the bottom corner, but Vanden Drieessche saved handsomely keeping the score at 0-0 at halftime.

No new names at the start of the second half, as coach De Roeck saw his team crawl forward and opening the score through Jakke Van Britsom, finishing some great combining, with Vandeperre chalking up his first assist. Club NXT took firm control and did not let KV Kortrijk get back into the game.

It was substitutes Musuayi and Lund Jensen who brought even more power into the Bruges game with their freshness. Lund Jensen with the great move inside the sixteen, but he got clipped. Instead of a penalty, however, he received a yellow card for an alleged fake. It turned out to be a stay of execution, as Musuayi was able to blast the 2-0 into the nets after some confusion in front of the Kortrijk goal, giving Club NXT a deserved double lead.

Club's youngsters did not relinquish the lead, beating the current league's number 2, helping the team to rise in the table. Next weekend Club NXT awaits a match against Beerschot, currently sitting in fourth position.
