All reactions after the defeat against RAAL La Louvière:
Hans Vanaken: "One of those days when the ball just won’t go in""
Captain Hans Vanaken searched for an explanation for the disappointing match.
“Especially in the first half, we created too little danger. Because of that deficit, we were up against a low block. Then you know it’s going to be difficult to find openings.
After the break, things did get better,” Vanaken added. “They were tiring a bit, which allowed us to get into the game more. Partly also thanks to some fresh players. It’s a huge shame we couldn’t make the difference. It was one of those evenings where the ball just didn’t want to go in.”
Nicky Hayen: “We didn’t bring enough tempo”
Nicky Hayen did not look for excuses for his team’s defeat.
“It just wasn’t enough from our side. After the international break, some players were struggling with fatigue from all the traveling, so we opted for fresher legs. But then you expect more intensity and grit. That was exactly what La Louvière showed. For 99 minutes they did everything to win, even throwing their bodies on the line. In the second half, we improved, but it wasn’t enough to take the three points.
We didn’t bring enough tempo, and on top of that, it’s also about efficiency. There were plenty of chances that simply had to go in. Including that penalty, which was really the perfect reflection of our match. Too much frustration, which meant we didn’t reach our normal level. La Louvière’s victory was deserved.”
Nicolo Tresoldi: "Now rest and win the next match."
“It’s not easy to explain, but it just wasn’t good enough. Especially in terms of quality. That has to improve now,” said the German striker, who also praised the opponent.
“They were very good. They won many first and second balls. That made it difficult for us as well. In the last 20 minutes we did get better. It’s a pity that penalty didn’t go in. Now we need to rest, improve, and win the next match.”
